My Favorite Bagel

Bagels are the best. So, when you top them off generously with rich cream cheese, salty smoked salmon, fresh cucumber, and red onion, you bring the bagel to a whole new level. And I mean, are you really having a bagel the right way if you aren’t piling on the toppings?

Obviously, this recipe is super customizable. You could add tomatoes, avocado, a poached egg, scrambled egg, white fish, different meats, goat cheese, and more. Literally, anything. This is my favorite way to enjoy a bagel, however, which is why I’m sharing the recipe!

Not featured in the picture but a great addition is everything but the bagel seasoning. I usually enjoy sesame bagels, so I sprinkle on some of the seasoning. But, all the toppings make the bagel delicious even without the seasoning. It’s the perfect combo of creamy cream cheese, salty smoked salmon, fresh cucumber, and colorful red onion. So good.

Feel free to double the recipe below if you want to make bagels for multiple people! They’re great for lunch or breakfast. Well… they’re good anytime.

Ingredients

  • 1 bagel
  • 2-3 tbsp cream cheese
  • 3-4 slices smoked salmon
  • 1 cucumber, sliced thinly
  • 1/4 red onion, sliced thinly
  • everything but the bagel seasoning (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut the bagel in half and toast until golden and warm. Spread cream cheese on both halves and top each with smoked salmon, cucumber, red onion, and sprinkle with everything but the bagel seasoning. Enjoy!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 bagel any type
  • 2-3 tbsp cream cheese

  • 1/4 red onion thinly sliced
  • everything but the bagel seasoning optional

Instructions
 

  • Toast the bagel until it is golden and warmed through. Spread cream cheese onto both halves of the bagel and layer on smoked salmon, cucumber, and red onion. Sprinkle with everything but the bagel seasoning and enjoy!
