Hi! I’m Claire, and I’m the blogger behind “Cook With Sunshine”. I’m an eighteen-year-old teen living in New Jersey, trying to embrace life as I get older. There’s so much that I have yet to experience, but food brings me closer to the world and new discovery than anything else.
I’ve always loved cooking, from when I was five years old trying to reach over the countertop in our kitchen. There’s something about the perfect bite of food that many think is unattainable, but I hope to prove otherwise.
Food means different things to different people, and it creates the foundation for culture and diversity in the world. To some, it may mean nostalgic memories with Grandma, baking chocolate chip cookies. To some, it is simply nutrition and statistical values. I want to bring together the different sides of the food universe, uniting levels of cooking, ingredients, and passion. Food can be healthy. Food can be indulgent. Food can be anything you want it to be. Personally, I’ve found it’s all about balancing food with other components of my life that lead to, quote-unquote, happiness.
As for me, I love playing the piano and drawing, as well as playing tennis. I love math and science; I hope to major in those in college. I live with my mom, dad, and little brother; a.k.a., my taste testers. I also have a beautiful, fluffy little cockatiel named Sunshine, whose bright feathers and positive chirps inspired the name for my blog.
Most importantly, I just like to have fun. I like to go out with my friends, or just stay in, watching movies and playing board games. Food brings that fun to my life, and I’m hoping I can help bring it to yours also.
I’m surrounded by teens and other people my age who simply never learned how to cook, whether it was due to lack of opportunity or lack of will. I want to show them, and other people, that cooking is not as complicated as it looks. There is a whole world of food beyond boxed mac and cheese, greasy fast food, and frozen dinner; and it’s accessible to anyone.
My goal is to help other people, be it my age, younger, or older, to discover the world of food and show that there are truly no limitations. Hopefully, my blog will be the stepping stone for you to uncover your own culinary passion.
